FW SAFETY PIPING

is a modified version of the FW STEEL-CASED PIPE-IN-PIPE- system, designed to transport environmentally hazardous media.

Ship accidents leading to spills of large quantities of crude oil are increasing.
The “single-hull tanker” no longer meets today's safety requirements, and will certainly soon be a thing of the past. The same applies to pipelines. FW SAFETY PIPING is “made to measure”.

Where liquids have to be transported that are

  • polluting
  • hazardous
  • expensive

leakages can cause enormous damage, resulting in high costs and, in the worst case, danger to life.

FW SAFETY PIPING minimises and/or eliminates such risks. The ring space between the inner pipe carrying the medium and the encasing pipe serves to contain

  • sensor cables to detect and locate leakages,
  • heat insulation, where media are conveyed at other than ambient temperature,
  • inert gas as a control medium for the permanent monitoring of the tightness of the inner and encasing pipes (or alternatively a vacuum, for the same reasons, but additionally providing enhanced heat insulation through the thermos flask effect),
  • the axial expansion of the inner pipe when hot media are carried,
  • any liquid leaking from the inner pipe which is captured by the encasing pipe,
  • heat tracing system if required.
