Mission & Vision

Quality made by FW since 1980.

Compared to other supply mains and water disposal pipelines, district heating pipelines areamong the most sensitive pipelines.

Our goal is to build district heating pipelines, safety pipelines and low temperature pipelines with a service life of at least fifty years.

Principle of STEEL-IN-STEEL PIPE and leakage testing

It is said that in 1906 a Frenchman pushed two steel pipes inside each other, with a view to conveying warm steam or hot water through the inner pipe. The pipe-in-pipe system was invented!

In 1968, when the founder and managing partner of FW-FERNWÄRME-TECHNIK GmbH, engineer Volkwart Harders, was employed at PermaPipe GmbH in Wiesbaden, he experienced the product in detail. Since then, he has significantly improved it.
The vacuum-tight enclosure of the medium pipes with FW STEEL-CASED PIPE-IN-PIPES is currently state of the art.

The vacuum presents three main advantages:

The vacuum presents three main advantages:

  • Thermal losses are reduced by approx. 40%
  • Permanent control as to the tightness of the system
  • Permanent protection against corrosion of the inner pipe (external side) and of the encasing pipe (internal side) by the extraction of oxygen and humidity

Our Research & Development Department cooperates closely with specialised institutes to further develop the pipe-in-pipe system.
