FW-Fernwärme-Technik GmbH implemented a customised solution for a leading ready-meal manufacturer in Rheine to ensure a safe and efficient steam supply within the factory premises. Centrepiece of the project is a steel-cased pipe-in-pipe system approximately 225 meters long, which reliably transports the required process steam from two in-house steam generators to the production facilities. The steam is conveyed at a temperature of 185 °C and an operating pressure of 11 bar.

The condensate generated during operation is returned via a separate return pipe and fed back into the cycle. The condensate pipeline was constructed using a 1.4307 stainless steel medium pipe, thereby meeting the highest standards for  durability and operational safety.

In areas where it was structurally impossible to lay the pipes underground, the steam and condensate pipes were installed as insulated above-ground lines with a metal sheet coating. Due to the local conditions, it was not possible to create a continuous gradient for the steam pipeline in these areas. To ensure the safe drainage of condensate, two specially manufactured condensate chambers were therefore installed. These prevent condensate from accumulating at low points and reliably reduce the risk of steam hammer.

The project was implemented entirely from a single source: from planning and technical calculations through prefabrication at the factory in Celle to professional on-site installation in Rheine. As a result, a cost-effective and future-proof overall solution was created that meets the highest quality standards.
