As part of the “Marlotherm” project, a pipeline was manufactured and installed as a SIS pipe system in the nominal diameters DN 50/30/250 and DN 150/30/250. The prefabrication of the individual construction units was carried out at the factory in Celle. Once completed, the individual construction units were transported to the site in Marl, where they were professionally installed by a pipeline construction company.
The pipeline serves as a safety mechanism for the controlled discharge of thermal oil, allowing the thermal oil to be safely diverted into a collection basin in the event of a fire. A steel-cased pipe-in-pipe system was selected to ensure the safe discharge of the thermal oil. In case of a leak from the medium pipe, any escaping environmentally hazardous substances are safely contained within the protective pipe.
The pipeline, approximately 77 metres long in total, was delivered in eleven individual construction units. On site, these units were assembled exclusively using the designated joining seams, keeping the time and effort required for installation to a minimum.
All welding seams on the medium pipe were fabricated and tested both in the factory and on site in accordance with the highest quality standards. This ensured that the necessary safety and quality requirements have been entirely fulfilled.
