Sustainability at FW

District heating pipes are among the most sensitive pipelines in the supply network. That is precisely why we rely on steel-cased pipe-in-pipes: robust, durable, and reliable for planning purposes. Our standard is a service life of at least 50 years, and that is the standard by which we measure every pipeline we build.

Taking Responsibility – Shaping the Future

  • We take our responsibility towards the environment and future generations very seriously.
  • Sustainability is an important part of our corporate philosophy and business processes.
  • As a leading manufacturer

Manufacturing with Vision

  • Our production techniques are designed for maximum efficiency and environmental compatibility.
  • Due to modern machinery and optimised production processes, we minimise our energy consumption and reduce our waste.
  • We focus on recycling and the use of environmentally friendly materials.
  • A prime example is our cooperation with our partner ROCKWOOL.
  • After insulating our inner pipes with rock wool shells, the inevitable offcuts are collected by ROCKWOOL and returned to the cycle.

  • A large proportion of the energy required for the design and manufacture of our pipe systems comes from renewable sources.
  • Our 1,885 m² solar panel system on the roof of the production building helps to meet our energy needs sustainably.
  • The 428 kWp PV system generates 400,000 kWh of electricity per year.

  • Our pipe systems offer a very long service life and high efficiency in terms of low heat losses.
  • The use of robust materials and innovative technologies ensures compliance with the highest quality and sustainability standards.
  • This means fewer replacements, less maintenance and, consequently, a lower impact on the environment.

  • Innovation is part of our sustainability strategy.
  • We are constantly working on new technologies and materials that are even more efficient and environmentally friendly.
  • We also regularly take part in international research projects and put our findings into practice.

  • For the major Dutch project WarmtelinQ II, we delivered prefabricated standard lengths by train for the first time.
  • The 18-metre-long construction units were transported by truck from our factory premises to the Celle Altenhagen freight station and loaded onto DB Cargo wagons there.
  • During the course of this project, 14 such trains carrying a total of 336 construction units were transported.
  • Furthermore, we also place great importance on sustainable transport and logistics solutions.
  • With three wall boxes, several hybrid vehicles and a fully electric forklift, we have put the best possible conditions in place.

  • As a family-run business, we support local environmental initiatives and charitable organisations.
  • In recent years, we have, for example, made donations to the Kinderschutzbund Celle e.V., the Celle Hospice and the Celler Tafel.

  • We provide regular updates on our sustainability measures and progress.
  • In 2023, we were able to report on our successful sustainability rating for the first time.
  • The globally recognised assessment platform “EcoVadis” awarded our sustainability commitment the Gold medal.
  • This places FW among the top 5% of all assessed companies worldwide.
