FW STEEL CHAMBERS

– prefabricated and ready for use –

„The high degree of prefabrication reduces installation effort and enables commissioning within 10 hours.“

Quote from company founder Volkwart Harders

FW STEEL CHAMBERS are prefabricated fully ready for operation and installed on site without the need for extensive reworking. The design already includes the complete pipework, insulation and the integration of all necessary fittings. This reduces on-site installation work to a minimum.

Prefabrication under controlled conditions ensures consistently high quality of workmanship and precise coordination of all components. Interface problems between trades are minimised, and commissioning can be significantly accelerated.

FW STEEL CHAMBERS are used in particular in district heating networks, where they serve as access points for valves, connections and monitoring equipment. They enable safe operation and provide good accessibility for maintenance and inspection.

Typical areas of application:

  • District heating distribution networks
  • Junctions and branches in pipework systems
  • Fitting and transfer chambers
  • Infrastructure projects with high demands on construction time and quality

The design, dimensions and equipment vary depending on the project. FW STEEL CHAMBERS enable  quick installation whilst ensuring high technical precision and operational safety.

FW STEEL CHAMBERS are typically used as condensate stations or for shut-off valves, vacuum technology, branch lines, venting and drainage. They are available as walk-in and non-walk-in chambers, with the latter allowing fittings to be operated comfortably and safely from the outside. All chambers can also be used in preinsulated pipe networks.

An alternative application is their use as compensation chamber, whereby axial, lateral and angular compensators accommodate thermal expansion, with the major advantage that the compensators remain accessible.

Installation is straightforward and possible even in areas with a high water table. The chambers are reliably watertight.

  • Vertical cylinders with a diameter of up to 2.8 m as standard transport;
    special dimensions and shapes available
  • Construction height from 2.3 m for walk-in chambers
  • Equipped with a surface-watertight-entry, ladder, pump sump and concrete floor
  • Flexible ventilation
  • Flotation control
  • Colour-coated interior
  • Exterior with polyurethane coating or bitumen
  • High level of corrosion protection, can be integrated into cathodic corrosion protection systems
  • Suitable for use in great depths and adjustable to the on-site elevation
  • Watertight with fully welded chamber inlets
  • Customised installation options available according to customer requirements, e.g.:
    • Shut-off valves
    • Condensate stations
    • Compensators
    • Vacuum technology
    • Measurement and control technology

The chamber body consists of a steel cylinder reinforced steel cylinder with vertical welded reinforcements. The interior is protected by an anti-corrosion coating, while the exterior is protected against corrosion by a plastic or bitumen coating.

Together, the chamber body and the welded-on base plate form a prefabricated construction unit. The base plate serves as a support on the customer-provided reinforced concrete foundation with an integrated pump sump.

The cover plate is available with either a circular or square access hatch fitted with a watertight manhole cover.

The ventilation and air extraction pipes consist of austenitic steel with an external PE coating and exit at the top and bottom of the chamber body. Above ground, only the ventilation cowls and the manhole cover remain visible.

The internal components are custom-made according to the specific project and the customer’s requirements. Depending on the application, components such as pipework, valves, fixed points or expansion joints may be integrated. All internal components are assembled, welded, tested and insulated at the factory.
