FW / Dr. Schnabel PTFE lined Insulating Joints

FW / Dr. Schnabel insulating joint serve to provide electrical isolation for sections of piping with cathodic protection (CP) and can be welded directly into the pipework.

Insulating joints for cathodic corrosion protection are used to electrically isolate sections of piping. They consist of two weld-on ends with welding neck flanges as well as a central section lined with polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). The insulating joints are ready for installation and can be welded directly into the pipeline; no complex on-site assembly is required.

Manufacturing is carried out in collaboration with SGL Carbon GmbH.

The insulating joint consists of a carrier pipe without an outer casing and is made up of a central section and two welding ends. The central section is connected to the welding ends by two flanged joints.

Inside the central section, a PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) liner provides the electrical insulation. Within the flange area, the PTFE liner also serves as the sealing element.

At one of the two flange joints, the electrical insulation is additionally ensured by insulating rings and PTFE insulating sleeves installed in the bolt holes.

To protect the PTFE liner during installation, both flange joints are fitted with protective sleeves that shield the component from welding spatter.

The insulating joint is supplied fully assembled and can be welded directly into the pipeline via the welding ends.
