Niederdorfelden – Crossing of the Nidder

For redundancy reasons, the DN1200 drinking water pipeline is split into two DN600 pipes in the adjacent chambers and rejoined after the crossing.  The two self-supporting pipe bridges are used to cross the River Nidder in Niederdorfelden. The inner pipes are lined with cement mortar in accordance with EN 10298 Annex A, Type C2, to ensure they are suitable for contact with drinking water, and are insulated to prevent the water from freezing or overheating. The underground section of the casing pipe is coated with PE, whilst the above-ground section is coated with paint (RAL 7030). On the southern river bank, an air vent is installed in both pipelines to vent the pipeline.
